I know I just posted a pumpkin pie recipe, but this is different! And it's in season, so we might as well eat it now right?
This recipe is exactly like the one at dairy queen. I made sure it was. And it tastes exactly like pumpkin pie! Except in yummy, ice cream form. You can also use any kind of ice cream you want, but vanilla tastes best with it. Enjoy!
Pumpkin Pie Blizzard
Ingredients
1 pint vanilla ice cream
Libby's canned pumpkin pie mix
Nilla wafers
Cool whip
Nutmeg
Directions
Using a blender, add two scoops of vanilla ice cream to the blender. Whole milk ice cream with a high butter fat content tastes and blends the best. Add one scoop of the pumpkin pie mix to the blender. Next, add 1/4 cup crushed Nilla wafers to the blender. Do not crush them finely, only barely crushed into big chunks in your hand. Blend the ingredients on a pulse setting for 20 seconds. Do not over blend. Scoop the contents into a glass and top with a dollop of cool whip and a sprinkle of nutmeg.
YUM, drooling over here.
ReplyDeleteWoah! Pumpkin Pie blizzard is such a good idea! Yums! Love how you did the picture so poster like! What program did you use? It's awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh how cool! I am going to have to make this ASAP!
ReplyDeleteI'm using this in my Copycat CLub :) posting tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThx!
That does look yummy....don't kill me when I tell you I have never had pumpkin anything...guess this is the year to try.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! Haha this is so awesome :) thanks! I love pumpkin so much.. and I really miss it since moving out of the states. no one really likes pumpkin as a dessert in NZ :( Great post <3
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, you rock! I can't wait to try this =)
ReplyDeleteAmaaaaazing. I LOVE DQ Blizzards, but no DQ nearby. :( Thanks for bringing the DQ to me!
ReplyDeletethis does NOT taste like it at all!!! you're forgetting the extra sugar, cinimon, ginger and cloves to make it taste like PIE!!! otherwise it tastes like canned pumpkin. DUH
ReplyDelete@Anonymous go spread your negativity somewhere else please(:
ReplyDeleteDQ doesn't use wafers. Daughter works there it's pie pieces.
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm guessing anonymous used canned pumpkin, not pumpkin pie mix as specified. Pumpkin pie mix has the sugar and spices already added.
ReplyDeleteIt has been several years since I last worked at DQ, but I do remember using the pumpkin pie mix (with the sugar & spices included). It is important to ease off the pumpkin, though, as less really is more in this case. The Nilla wafer cookie is the best part!
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that DQ has altered the cookie portion of this recipe. They use something else nowadays. It's still very good, but distinctly different... I personally prefer the original (this version). Also, I highly recommend you use Dairy Queen soft serve (or any soft serve that is WHITE). I have tried using the yellow vanilla ice cream from the store and it did not taste right.
